Switzerland

Switzerland's independence and neutrality have long been honored by the major European powers and Switzerland was not involved in either of the two World Wars. The political and economic integration of Europe over the past half century, as well as Switzerland's role in many UN and international organizations, may be rendering obsolete the country's concern for neutrality.

Switzerland [including Liechtenstein] is part of the European Economic Area, but not a member of the European Union. Indigenous people make up nearly 83% of the population, with foreigners making up the other 17%, with 4 official languages within the borders. 92% claim Christianity, but only 6% attend church.

YWAM in SWITZERLAND:
YWAM found its first permanent home in Lausanne, Switzerland, in 1969. This became the location of the first training school, the School of Evangelism. From here teams were sent out all over Europe to pioneer many of the first full-time works. Loren and Darlene Cunningham returned to reestablish the Lausanne base in 1994. Currently there are bases in 6 locations, including Mercy Ships, with many UofN courses offered in the various locations. The GENESIS project, communication network, was initiated from Lausanne.

The European office for the Kings Kids ministry is based in Wiler, near Bern. Summer training camps called 'Follow Me' attract hundreds of young people, with training and outreach in the country. Also, Teeny-Praise-Nights (twice a year with 1500 - 2000 teenagers) gather young people for praise and intercession in different cities of Switzerland.

prayer needs:
- for evangelism and new recruiting for missions and YWAM staff.
- for continued growth of unity among the body of Christ.
- for release of new evangelistic movements within the nation,
