Once the seat of Viking raiders and later a major north European power, Denmark has evolved into a modern, prosperous nation that is participating in the political and economic integration of Europe. So far, however, the country has opted out of some aspects of the European Union's Maastricht Treaty, including the new joint monetary system.
Denmark is the most southern of the Scandinavian countries, and is almost completely Danish apart from 3.1% foreigners. The national church is
Lutheran, but Denmark is very much a mission field as Christianity seems to be in a decline.
YWAM in DENMARK:
The first YWAM work in Denmark took place between 1972 - 1982. In 1984 YWAM Denmark was restarted by Per Eivind Stig, and experienced great expansion, playing a key role in bridge building between churches in the nation. YWAM was the radical place to be as young people. DTS's were restarted in 2000-01. Other ministries include Kings Kids network groups, evangelistic music ministry, Family Ministry, and a "Connect Course" (Missions School with focus on Asia). Impact World Tour has held several successful "satellite events (one of the evenings with 1000 participants).
prayer needs:
- for Christians in key positions in government,
- for Danes to turn to God.
- for YWAM Denmark to stay relevant particularly to the youth in the nation, many of whom are seeking truth.
- for staff and young leaders.
