What to see on the way

Make a real trip out of the Festival! This part of Europe is full of rich history.

Prague: One of my favourite cities, Prague is the city of John Hus - you'll see his statue in the Old Town Square- and Jan Amos Comenius, last bishop of the Ancient Moravian Church, who face is on the 200 kronar note.

Dresden: firebombed by the Allies during the war, some of the original architectural masterpieces have been recently completed.

Leipzig: Bach's city -

Castle Church, Wittenberg, GermanyWittenberg: Visit the Castle Church where the Reformation was started when Luther hammered is 95 theses on the church doors.

Halle: Pietist centre that inspired both Zinzendorf and Wesley, and sent out missionaries even before the Moravians did.

Wartburg Castle, Eisenach, GermanyWartburg Castle: if you are travelling from the west, your route may take you past Wartburg Castle where Luther went into hiding and completed his German translation of the New Testament

Bautzen: just north of Herrnhut, here Zinzendorf said goodbye to the first two missionaries sent out in 1732. Interesting town centre.
