How do I join YWAM?

The entry process into YWAM includes completion of a Discipleship Training School (DTS), which is offered in over 200 locations around the world. Costs vary according to location, and the program is five to six months in length (the usual minimum age is 18, or high-school grad).
Another version of the DTS is the Crossroads Discipleship Training School (CDTS). It is designed for people with more life experience and in mid career, usually for people 30 and older.

The first part of the DTS (and CDTS) includes classroom teaching (and community life involvement with the local YWAM staff), focusing on knowing God's nature and character, with an emphasis on developing a daily walk with God. The second part entails some kind of outreach. Successful completion of a DTS or CDTS is required before you can become YWAM staff anywhere in the world..

Not everyone completing a DTS (or CDTS) necessarily joins YWAM. Many participate in a DTS to take time out to concentrate on God and consider their future in the light of this.

In addition to joining YWAM on staff for a longer period (usually no less than one or two years), many of the YWAM ministry centers also have short-term projects, outreaches and openings for local volunteers. How do you find out about these? Check the YWAM Links page or order the Go Manual.

HOW DO I APPLY?

Each YWAM ministry location does her own recruiting and training, and makes her own plans in regards to ministry and scheduling.

There is no centralized application process for people interested in our worldwide outreaches, training programs or staff openings. You may contact individual YWAM ministry locations directly for details about applying, schedules and costs.
